Community boards play an important role in improving the quality of life for all New Yorkers. Your board can help you with issues and problems regarding City agencies. Boards also serve an advisory role in dealing with land use and zoning matters, as well as capital and expense budget issues.
What Does the Board Discuss?
At its monthly meetings, the board discusses a range of topics including:

- Land use and zoning
- Public safety

- Other important issues of the day
Who Serves on the Community Board?
Queens Community Board 14 consists of up to 50 unsalaried members who serve as volunteers. Members are appointed by the Queens Borough President and City Councilmembers representing the district. The board is led by Chairperson Dolores Orr, with Jonathan Gaska serving as District Manager.
The board represents the neighborhoods of Arverne, Bayswater, Belle Harbor, Breezy Point, Broad Channel, Edgemere, Far Rockaway, Neponsit, Rockaway Beach, Rockaway Park, Rockaway Point, and Roxbury.
Queens Community Board 14 brings together local residents who volunteer their time to address the needs of the Rockaways peninsula and Broad Channel. At monthly public meetings, board members and community stakeholders discuss quality-of-life concerns, land use and zoning proposals, public safety matters, and capital budget priorities that affect neighborhoods from Arverne to Breezy Point and everywhere in between. The board serves as an official channel between the community and city agencies, helping residents navigate government services and ensuring that the unique character of each Rockaway neighborhood is represented in decisions made at City Hall. Through this work, the board helps preserve and improve the quality of life across this diverse coastal community.
